When you’re in a long distance relationship, especially at a young age, you choose to give up a lot of things. You choose to give up the normal high school dating experience, and all of it’s bullshit. You give up a lot of attention. You give up time for your old friends and some opportunities to make new ones. You give up going to dances and parties with the one person who you wish could take you. You give up a lot [not all, cause God knows I’ve still managed to mess up] of the freedom to be irresponsible and make mistakes. Because you need to be an extra reliable partner. If you really want your long distance relationship to be successful, yes, you do give up a lot. And the sacrifice, honestly, is not for everyone. A lot of people say they want a fulfilling relationship, but they don’t have the maturity, dedication, or discipline to make this kind especially last. Nor do they have the sense to maintain a sort of balance between those who are immediately in front of them and the one who is far away. But my point is. Amongst all the sacrifice. If you can pull through. You gain something many people don’t. You learn lessons in love most people around you can’t even imagine. Your significant other will truly be your best friend.
